WPQ 2023 Exhibition

Our latest Quilt Show was held on Saturday 18th February 2023 , at St Peter’s Church Hall in Henleaze, Bristol.

Queues began building from the moment we opened the doors at 10 and we welcomed nearly 600 adults and children during the course of the day.

The work submitted by our members was much admired.  We had around 70 quilts on display, as well as examples of work done during workshops and for our annual ‘Chairman’s Challenge’.

The refreshments room, sales and tombola tables did brisk business and we were delighted to welcome Jan Hassard, an internationally renowned quilter, who conducted several free mini-workshops during the course of the day.

Leading up to the event our members had collectively produced a rainbow quilt, which was raffled at the end of the day.  We were delighted to be able to donate the proceeds of the raffle, £350, to our chosen charity, Refugee Women of Bristol.

Our visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourite quilt, and the most popular quilt was 'A Sunday Walk with Bristol Ramblers' by Malin Wood, with 'Walking the Strandline' by Janet Burns second.

WPQ 2019 Exhibition

Our last exhibition was held on Saturday 23 February 2019 in St Peter’s Hall, Henleaze. It was a lovely sunny day and the exhibition was busy all day, with nearly 500 visitors overall. There was a lively atmosphere, with lots to see and do. The items on display included members’ own choice quilts and the group challenge quilts, creating a colourful array of exhibits. There were many comments from visitors about the high standard and variety of members’ work.

Many visitors participated in the opportunity to choose their favourite exhibit with the visitors’ choice slips. Lots of discussion about difficult choices could be heard!

The Julian Trust night shelter in Bristol was chosen by members as our charity beneficiary. Thanks to the success of the exhibition, we were able to send them a Donation of £250, as well as raising funds to support WPQ itself
